A Celebration of Improvisation
Willamette University and the Grace Goudy Distinguished Artists Series welcome back — for the third time — a pianist described in Yamaha Behind the Scenes as “the foremost freelance pianist for film, television soundtrack recording, contemporary music premieres and chamber music working today.” Bryan Pezzone is in his element, from Bernstein to Berio, Billy Joel to The Beatles, and Bach to Brahms.
The Los Angeles Times declares that “Bryan Pezzone is a wonderful pianist whose exacting touch and gamey sense of adventure make him a favorite of the Los Angeles music scene. His playing is strikingly reminiscent of the sort of pianistically effusive style present in the recordings of Gershwin.”
The concert itself will be an incredible and unique event, combining seven Willamette music faculty as guest artists on a program highlighting the fundamental and miraculous art of improvisation. This “celebration” will include original compositions, standards and free improvisation.
Please join us for what will be an evening of creativity and delightful surprises for all!
